Special DGALA-Only Hood Museum Tour from Deputy Director Juliette Bianco
Hood Museum (meet in museum lobby). New voices bring fresh perspectives to the Hood’s collection, installed in 15,000 square feet of original and new galleries. The museum’s undergraduate interns curated a special exhibition titled ‘Consent: Complicating Agency in Photography,’ drawn entirely from photographs that were acquired for the museum by Dartmouth students.

2014 All Class Reunion Photos and Recap

Board of Directors Elections: We will be holding Board of Directors elections in December of 2014. If you are interested in running for the Board and would like to see a full job description, please contact us at dartgala@gmail.com. Triangle House Giving: Additionally, there is also still time to contribute to Triangle House Dartmouth’s new LGBTQIA Living and Learning Community. Give online before the November 30th contribution deadline! (leadership level of $2,500+ for inclusion on the plaque)

Mentorship Program: We are also looking for alumni willing to mentor students over the course of a year (and beyond) through our mentorship program. The time commitment would be a couple hours per month for phone and/or videoconference contact with your “mentee.” If you are interested in becoming a DGALA mentor, please contact Director Rigel Cable ’10 (rigel.cable@gmail.com). Please note, mentorship is not restricted to career and networking but also life coaching, academic, interest-based etc. Please contact DGALA or Rigel with any questions.

8:30am to 10am:  DGALA Reunions Breakfast, with remarks by President Kim @ 8:45am.  Hinman Lounge, Rockefeller Center

11am to NoonExclusive DGALA Tour of Men of Fire: Jose Clemente Orozco and Jackson Pollock.  A senior Hood administrator will welcome us and provide an overview of the museum.  Following the welcome, Sarah Powers, Assistant Curator for Special Projects, will lead us on a tour of the exhibition.  We are fortunate to catch it during its last 2 days on view!  Hood Museum

2pm:  “God Gave Them Guns” takes a vacation:  How American Culture Wars Get Fought Overseas.  Professor Jeff Sharlet, the recipient of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission’s 2011 Outspoken Award and the National Lesbian and Gay Award for Excellence in Feature Writing, will lecture on this provocative topic.  Moore Theater, Hopkins Center

Dinner:  DGALA members at Mini Reunion have traditionally gathered for casual dinners on Saturday, usually joined by LGBT undergraduates and members of the graduating class.

Professor Jeff Sharlet to speak at Annual DGALA Mini-Reunion

Professor Jeff Sharlet, the recipient of The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission’s 2011 Outspoken Award and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association’s 2011 Excellence in Journalism Award for Excellence in Feature Writing, will be the featured speaker at DGALA’s annual mini-reunion in Hanover. The mini-reunion will take place Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 and will also include our annual breakfast with the President of the College, a private tour of the Hood Museum and a cocktail reception. Dorm housing is available but extremely limited this year — if you are interested, please email us ASAP.
