Schuyler Bailar is the first openly transgender NCAA Division I swimmer (currently attending Harvard University) and is the son of Gregor Bailar ’85. He gave a talk, “Breaking Boundaries”, at Dartmouth on March 2, 2018, hosted by Shira Evans, Coordinator of Sports Nutrition. Afterwards, OPAL (Office of Pluralism and Leadership) hosted a round table discussion at the Triangle House and DGALA co-sponsored the dinner. Students were given the opportunity to engage in important conversation and address how to cope with challenging parents when coming out plus navigating other social situations.
