Join Professor Ruth Vanita, author of Queering India: Same-Sex Love and Eroticism in India, openly gay Indian-American comedian Vidur Kapur (highlight act from DGALA’s last all-class reunion), and filmmaker Ishita Srivastava, director of Desigirls!, for a discussion of gender, sexuality, national identity and their intersections. This is the last of three programs in the Rubin Museum’s Out in the Himalayas series, a look at the issues faced by gay, lesbian and transgender people in the South Asian region and diaspora. After the discussion, we’ll head to a local bar for drinks and further discussion.
