Join fellow Dartmouth alums for a discussion with artist Daniel Heyman ’85 as he talks about his work which is on display at the Laband Art Gallery at Loyola Marymount University . From 2005 through 2008, Daniel accompanied a team of human rights attorneys to Jordan and Turkey , where he sat in on dozens of interviews with former Abu Ghraib detainees. He also spent time with African-American men in Philadelphia (where he lives) and with recent U.S. immigrants who, like the Iraqis, had little opportunity to tell their stories. Through his sensitive depictions and inclusion of their own words, Heyman’s portraits “restore dignity and individuality to those who have been deprived of their most basic human rights.”
RSVP to David Eichman ’82.
