This time we will discuss family and estate planning with a focus on the needs of couples with children or planning for children. Speaking on insurance and education savings plans will be FFR/Princeton BTGALA’s Shawn Cowls, and on legal issues will be Anthony M. Brown. There will be ample time for questions and answers and drinks following the presentations.

Professor Jeff Sharlet to speak at Annual DGALA Mini-Reunion

Professor Jeff Sharlet, the recipient of The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission’s 2011 Outspoken Award and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association’s 2011 Excellence in Journalism Award for Excellence in Feature Writing, will be the featured speaker at DGALA’s annual mini-reunion in Hanover. The mini-reunion will take place Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 and will also include our annual breakfast with the President of the College, a private tour of the Hood Museum and a cocktail reception. Back by popular demand, DGALA has enlisted Matt Yee ’82 for an encore performance on the heels of his recently sold-out, first-ever NYC show. Described by The San Francisco Chronicle as “Elton John meets Margaret Cho”, Matt’s performance incorporates fabulous costumes, humor, and, of course, piano playing and singing to make for a fun-filled evening. Werner Tillinger ’86 (a/k/a Mr. San Francisco Leather 1999) learned a great deal about having sex and being a man at Dartmouth. But he was shocked to discover that there was a lot more to life — and masculinity and sex — in the world outside of the Dartmouth bubble. Werner will be speaking about the surprises he discovered in his life and careers after Dartmouth and how he learned to deal with sex, drugs, and being a man in the real world.

A Conversation with Montgomery Fellow Larry Kramer

We just learned that Larry Kramer, author of the play The Normal Heart and the screenplay Women in Love, the co-founder of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GHMC), and the founder of ACT UP, is in currently in residence as a Montgomery Fellow. On Tuesday, Jan. 24 he will participate in a public dialogue with Professor Michael Bronski. If you are in the Hanover area, we hope you’ll be able to stop by for what will most certainly be an interesting conversation.
