We hope you will join us in learning more about Michael Bronski’s acclaimed new book, A Queer History of the United States — including its Dartmouth ties — and enjoy this opportunity to meet LGBTQA alumni/ae of all classes, including Trustee Dr. John Rich ’80.

Michael Bronski is a Senior Lecturer in the Women’s and Gender Studies and Jewish Studies programs at Dartmouth. He has written extensively on film, books, theater and LGBT issues for four decades, in both mainstream and queer publications, including The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, and The Village Voice. The recipient of numerous awards, including a Lambda Literary Award, Stonewall Award (Anderson Prize Foundation), Leadership Award (DGALA), and a Distinguished Lecturer Award (Dartmouth), Professor Bronski’s courses at Dartmouth are consistently oversubscribed by a wide cross-section of the student body.

Dr. John A. Rich ’80 was elected to the Dartmouth Board of Trustees in 2008 and has long been an innovative leader in the field of public health. His work has focused on serving one of the nation’s most ignored and underserved populations: African-American men in urban settings. His work has shaped policy discussion and health practices throughout the United States. Among numerous awards for his work in public health, he was granted, in 2006, a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. Dr. Rich is a member of the Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association (BADA) and was recently interviewed by DGALA for the spring 2011 issue of Green Light as Dartmouth’s first openly gay trustee. Dr. Rich resides in Philadelphia with his partner, Dr. Ted Corbin.
